Fitness Goals 2016

Hi friends!

Since we just celebrated the new year, like 86% of the rest of the world (I made that statistic up, shhh!), I have made some resolutions goals for 2016 that revolve around making healthier choices. I think the word “resolution” can have a negative connotation for a lot of people (myself included) and brings a lot of unnecessary pressure. For me, the word “goal” is much more positive, so I’m going with that this year and setting myself up for success 😉

I am constantly trying to workout more, eat healthier, and make overall better decisions with regards to fitness, but I am very guilty of falling off the wagon. So, what better time than the start of a new year to refocus my goals and my mindset? And maybe putting them down in writing for the whole internet to see will help keep me accountable.

My goals this year are simple, cliché, and ones that I’ve probably made at least 17 times in the past. But, new year, new beginnings, and I have a great feeling about 2016.

So, without further ado, here they are:

  • Drink enough water. Every day.
    • This one is hard for me. But there are so many benefits to staying hydrated, so I’m committing myself to slowly upping my water intake over the next couple of months and turning it into a habit.
  • Cook at home more frequently.
    • I love to cook, and I truly feel more satisfied sitting down to eat a meal that I’ve prepared at home. Not to mention 9 out of 10 times (again- another made up statistic by yours truly!) cooking at home is going to be healthier than whatever you get elsewhere.
  • Make better decisions when eating out.
    • aka, I don’t always have to get a side of fries. With ranch.
  • Work out on a consistent schedule at least 4x a week.
    • Or maybe three. Three to four times a week. On average. Somewhere in that range. Eventually. I’ll get there. Baby steps.
  • Explore yoga.
    • I have tried yoga a handful of times in the past, and it has never clicked for me. I have recently realized that going to a studio is not for me, and I would much prefer to treat yoga the way it should be treated- as a practice and a personal journey of growth. This, for me, means doing it in the comfort of my own home with the help of YouTube videos and tutorials (like the ones from Yoga with Adriene).
